Twenty-nine-year-old Jess wakes up on New Year’s Day a touch hungover and a whole lot confused. The man in bed next to her is not her boyfriend, Ben. In fact, she doesn’t even remember Not-Ben’s name. It won’t be the first time she finds herself in a questionable situation in a year that proves her new single-in-the-city lifestyle is far from the glamorous, Sex And The City world she’s been promised on TV. Between hacking through last year’s leg hair, accidentally snogging someone who may well be her cousin, getting hit over the head with a sex toy that isn’t even hers, and ending the night with a walk of shame into her parent’s garage, Jess’s single life is turning out more cockroaches than cocktails. The Morning After Memoirs is the story of one woman’s search for love, meaning, and a low-calorie alternative to wine.

Food & Drink: Scarlet's Covent Garden, London

My husband and I came across Scarlet's Covent Garden during a day out in London. We were desperate for a drink and went into the first bar that had free tables inside. Fortunately for us, this happened to be Scarlet's.

Maple sugar kisses...

Lucy would do anything for her mom…but she never expected to end up promising to leave her. After her mom got sick, Lucy dropped everything to take care of her, working all hours in a greasy diner just to make ends meet and spending every spare moments she had by her mom’s hospital bedside.

Food & Drink: Is ignorance bliss when eating out?

http://www.abfoodnutrition.co.uk/?page_id=62

For me, dinner out is a real treat and I don't tend to limit myself too much when it comes to my food choices. My theory is that if I'm paying to eat out, I'll spend the money on something that I really want to eat. However, I tend to eat fairly healthily in any event and I don't think that my eating style changes too much when I go out - I prefer tomato sauces to creamy sauces, I love salad and I don't really have a sweet tooth so often pick coffee rather than dessert.

However, after a lovely dinner out last night consisting of spaghetti with chicken and N'duja sausage, chocolate orange slice and a glass of white wine, I decided to use MyFitnessPal to check on the calorie count of the meal I had just eaten. I was SHOCKED to read the number of calories I had consumed in that one meal! Admittedly, this was mainly due to the absolutely decadent chocolate orange slice (a chocolate sponge base topped with chocolate-orange truffle mousse and a dusting of popping candy).

Food & Drink: The Rum Kitchen Carnaby, London

We recently came across The Rum Kitchen totally by accident, whilst walking along Carnaby Street. It is located in Kingly Court, just off Carnaby Street, which is a lovely open building full of small restaurants overlooking a central courtyard area. I believe that there is another sister restaurant located on Portabello Road in Notting Hill.

As we walked into The Rum Kitchen, we were immediately taken by the chilled out ambiance. With brightly coloured wooden planks across the wall, colourful chairs, mismatched tiles and themed wall signs, this was not a sophisticated restaurant but rather a "Caribbean inspired beach shack restaurant" (as stated on their website). There were individual and communal tables and a great sociable buzz around the restaurant.

Monthly Round Up - June 2015

Hi everyone! Welcome to my first every monthly round up. I'm having a bit of difficulty keeping track of everything I've read/received each month, so I thought a monthly round up would help me to keep track of everything as well as, hopefully, being interesting for you to read! The format of this post is still a WIP, so may change a bit over the next few months. Please bear with me whilst I figure out what works best for me and my readers!

June has been a good month for me! The weather warmed up nicely, I've read some great books and I've got some fab new additions to my TBR list.
